Week 1 Wrap-up

So I've been working for a week...
And it had been a great week :) Still my honey-moon period i guess!

It has also been a whole week of meet-ups, nice food and lovely ppl :)

Monday:
Met mom and pops with my cousin and her bf at Nov for Korean BBQ :) It's like a mini celebratory dinner for me starting work :)

Tuesday:
Poppy treated me to dinner at Ion :) And I actually took shorter time to get from my office to Orchard than him driving from PS to Ion! And travelling to town aft work, I get to beat the peak-hr crowd who are gng home on the other direction.... What a good excuse to go shopping :P

Wednesday:
Had a lunch sharing session in the office, where they ordered QiJi nasi lemak and popiah!! oh man i miss those food so much.......... and I had to intro myself, halfway thru my chicken wing, so not cool. -_-

Thursday:
XM came to Nov for her pre-emp check-up and we met over lunch! It's very very cool to have one of ur best sec sch girlfrens as lunch buddies at work :DDDDDDD Looking forward for her to start work :P So that day was like a sneak peek into lunch-times when she start working as well! I'm guessing some of the days we'll spend our 1 hr completely on places like Cotton-on, Popular and NTUC :P we were so excited we both forgot to tk photos :(
Popped by Hans to meet my sis-in-law coz she was having lunch with her fren as well and gave her a short update abt my 1st few days at work :) Hope she'll pass by frequent!!

Met up with Team Singapore at night to do SOME photo sharing.

Me and Kit started yakking away the 1st moment we meet, I missed her sooooo much!!!

2 (slightly) tired working ladies -_-

And her mega big (non-portable) harddisk vs Shouwen's portable one:

We were no whr very close to FINISH transferring the photos to one another....

Passed by Sands, hope we get to go there for a walk soon :D

Friday:
Had Dimsum lunch with my colleagues to celebrate Chun Ling's bday.

The pretty mango sago came with dry ice puffing out from the little cup at at the bottom, the girls were all gng wowowowow!

I had to guess which uni everyone came from and in wad sequence... not easy leh!! Coz apparently chuinling (the one in specs) is (much) OLDER than she look. Jealous!

Dessert makes ppl HAPPPPY :))))))

Popped by TCC coz Albert and Winnie were there!!! Wish I had more time to talk to them... but I already had a 2-hrs lunch :P

ANdandand! alot of my colleagues are Daiso siao too!!! Just went shopping with Debs and Brandon last night aft work hohoho :)

Try to show u guys my workstation when I put all my stuffies up ok?? :) Think I wanna bring a cushion there too....... hmmm.

Met up with PP for dinner aft dat, listened to Nanny and Lynn's proposal story :)))) so sweeeeeeeeet lah :))) looking forward to the weddding!

Sat:
Went for tuition in the morning, and came back to Pop's hs to nua and blog and play wiith boy2... :) slow, relaxing day..... so relaxing we decided that we're not rushing dwn to sch to collect ur gown :P pop's gonna collect for me nxt week :)

Just have to go LV to settle some dumb problem that the XXXXXX ppl at New Bond Street made. URGH.

OHOHOH and shammy says she has str bus from her work plc and 1.5 hr lunch so she can come find me, and Sharon's at TPY!!! we're mtg soon for dinner b4 we do lunchie lunchie :D

MId-week!

It's barely 3 days since my 1st day at work and some part of me feels like I've been ard for very long, some part of me feels like I'm still very new.
The ppl make me feel very comfy there, from other newbies and young colleagues to the ones who have been working there for a long long time to my manager and even the directors.

There was a sharing session over lunch today for the entire HR team and I had to intro myself, their welcome was warm and nice :) And I'm officially the youngest there! By a matter of 24 days hahaha... Then there were some informal sharing by other colleagues and through the whole exp, I can see that the ppl here are very passionate abt what they do and truely believe in the cause of their work. Nth is too small or too unimportant, we are all playing our parts to paint the bigger picture. They are also very big on developing their ppl to go beyond their entry jobs and having them stay in the org for a longer period of time. Not that many ppl are leaving too often from what I can see.

The part of me that still feels really new, is when I'm all involved in work. I'm picking up alot of new things and info along the way. Workload is getting heavy, already. And things like interviews, orientation, follow-up.... all these are just a small part of my jobscope. It's very interesting because not too long ago (now), I went/ will be going thru these processes as a recruit/ newbie, and aft that, I will be giving interviews, orientations and having follow-ups with staff that I bring in. In fact, I already sat in for an interview ystday and I felt like I was going to be interviewed instead, so nervous! But I got to ask a few qns and it was very funny to see my name on a plycard on the interview table :P the same interview table I sat facing 3 interviewers on my panel interview just 2 months ago!

I met mummy for dinner today and we are both very excited abt it coz we foresee that we will be meeting each other alot more often for meals since I'm just 1 stn away from her! And tmr XM is meeting me for lunch coz she's going to her company to do her pre-emp check-up :))))

I feel extremely fortunate that things are going really well right now. But I know it's still the honeymoon period and the workload will get heavier, tougher and more challenging as the days past, but whatever it is, I am still really thankful for this opportunity and I wan myself to rmb that.

Meeting Team Singapore tmr night for our EU photo-exchange session! Finally get to see Kit again aft so long :) So, I promise more photos for the next post, and hopefully a glimpse at my workstn (I went shopping for 2 days :P)!

I'm off to download OS4!!

Morphing into an OL

Officially a working adult now. Oh mannnnnnn.... I feel so old :(
But the 1st day was great :)
Nice colleagues and well-facilitated workplace.
Chatted with the boss and saw a rather challenging and exciting career ahead. Foresee busy busy times ahead, but I'm glad it will not be 'boring admin HR work" but it'll be rather dynamic in nature. I think I will need to step out of my comfort zone more often than I've imagined. And I really appreciate that my boss sincerely want to see what new perspective I can offer to the team and to tap on some of my psych knowledge. Need to revise my old old org psych and personnel selection stuff again!!

Already made a whole list of stuff to buy for my new (perm) workspace :)))) so excited just thinking abt it hohoho and a pretty planner for all the deadlines, meetings and interviews.

Speaking of which, I will be sitting in for one tmr :D

And thanks to all my lovely frens for their encouraging SMS and fb msg on my 1st day of work. Didn't reply some of u coz I was pretty busy with induction and orientation, but I really really appreciated it :) thank you!!!!

A New Phase in Life

Like COMPLETELY new.
The last time I said I'm moving on to a new phase in life was when I'm entering Uni.
But now, it's really really new coz I'm not studying anymore...

1st day of work tmr...
Anxious, excited and full of anticipation :)
Really hope tmr will be a great day.

For now, I just hope that I can rest well, get past the horrible jetlag and wake up really fresh and energized tmr!!
Lots of changes to make to my life so that I can have a more healthy and balanced lifestyle. To start with, I shld really stop having late late nights....
So I shld really slp now.
Heheh.
Good night all, have a beautiful day tmr :)

Dear Lord, I pray that you will bless and guide me through the day with wisdom and strength to give my very best in all the opportunities that you have opened up in my life. And thank you for all your wonderful blessings thus far. Amen. :)

Shano's Wedding

Joyous occasions like weddings are also great time for family and friends reunion :)
Went for Pop's cousin's wedding today at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.
I dun really know her very well, but I think she looked beautiful in her bright yellow toga gown. Reminds me of Dahling's gown at star awards :)))
Nonetheless, had an awesome time with pop's family and relatives.
2 more of his cousins are getting married this yr, one in Oct and the other in Dec, lovely!

And of coz, weddings are great occasions to doll up and cam-whore ;)

I loveeee the shoes that I bought at Primark, it's sooooo comfy!!

Still soaked in the bliss and sweetness of wedding bells :)

I think I'll be using this mug soon coz it's just too cute :)

Too much time to spare at home, but too lazy to move the stuff away from the bkgrd :X

Anw, I'm finally meeting the girls tmr, YEAHHHH!!!

Spirit of Europe - a mth of adventures

This past mth had been an amazing amazing experience for me. There were good times, not so good ones and a number of 1st times :) It's impossible to note down all the details and describe exactly how the trip went, so I've decided to give most of the details a miss and just write down a couple of lists to sum up the trip :)

1st Time Experiences:
1) Fitting all my stuff into a BACKPACK

2) Sharing a room with 8 other strangers (whr I met a really nice Korean-Brazilian girl who lent me her hairdryer)

3) Being away from home for a good 31 DAYS

4) Staying in hostels and campsites (more like chalet really)

5) Experience a hail storm (albeit a really short one like for a minute haha)

6) Watching a Cabaret show

7) Watching a LIVE sex show

8) Catching a West-end musical

9) Doing laundry (with the help of big, money-eating washing machines)

10) Wore denim shorts with leggings :(

Top 5 Most Memorable Experiences:
1) The out-of-body experience after taking space cake (ask me abt it if u find it interesting, I have so much to say!)

2) Waking up to breath-taking view of the swiss alps right at my doorstep in Lauterbrunnen

3) Bin-Bag party, which includes wearing the bin bag to dinner at a restaurant, having drinks at the bar and finally, clubbing at the discotheque

4) Clubbing at a 5-storey discotheque in Prague

5) Rushing for the plane with 90% chance that we were going to miss it (it was half hr past the stated check in time when we reach the airport, not to mention we haven done our tax redemption yet)

Top 5 Highlights of the Trip:
1) Seeing Eiffie :))))) (I have at least 100 shots of Eiffie from different angles!)

2) Switzerland. omg.

3) Pretty Venice and the gorgeous Venician masks

4) Auschwitz-Berkinau Tour in Poland

5) PRIMARK. woohoooo!

Top 5 Things that I Regretted Not Doing:
1) SKY DIVE in Switzerland!!! But it costs S$800++ :( I can get mum an LV wallet with that money... BUT I REALLY WANTED TO DO IT :((((((

2) Having MORE gelato in Italia

3) Buying more souveniers

4) Getting the pretty key chain in Paris

5) Buying more stuff in London

Home Sweet Home

I'm feeling awake at 2am, definite sign of jetlag coz I've been slping b4 1am for the past mth.
It's weird to be back home coz the past mth felt like it never really happened, it was like a dream!
Thank God I have pictures to assure and remind myself of the amazing experience, which I will share with u guys, promise :)

I do miss home, but I miss Europe even b4 I left.
I wanna go back again, there are so much more to see and explore and learn. But of coz, not so soon - no time, no money haha

I'll have a one week break b4 work officially begins for me, so here's a to-do list just to help ease myself out of the holiday mood I've been indulging in:

1) Unpack
2) Upload photos into laptop
3) Upload photos into FB
4) Do a short blog on the trip
5) Clean-up the room
6) FILE FOR GRADUATION (just check that it's done)
7) rest
8) catch up with everyone!!! (that'll take some time)
9) start reading Change Your Habits, Change Your Life
10) last minute shopping for things I might need for work (not really but it's a good excuse)

And to ppl whom I did not get a gift for, I'm so terribly sorry... I was time and space strapped (I had to buy a luggage when I returned to London just so I can go shopping and buy some stuff back)

And I just have to add this:
I think pops had done a fantabulous job taking care of me throughout the trip :)

Updates!!

Waiting for the boys to be done with their showers and we can discuss what to do tmr for our free day in Budapest.
So I'm here making full use of the free wifi to do some updates :)
The tour has been great so far. Totally not like the normal tour that I've been to with my parents, full of old ppl and boring adults (snorts). Just imagine a bus full of 35 young ppl aged 18-30, with the majority being Aussies. It's parties and drinks and lame jokes everyday! And we eat drink and party with both our trip leader and the driver :)
We have a special (and increasingly irritating) German pop song as wake up song everytime reach a stopover, random theme parties every wk (bin bag party, bed sheet toga party, Eurotrash party), a flourescent vest for donkey of the day and an uber cute trip tee that we all designed tgt hoho. It's really a very very interesting experience thus far :)
After the brief warmth and sunshine in Italy, we're back to rain and low low temp in Eastern Europe.
Time to bring out my thick jacket again...
Just checked my results this morning, expected results which means it's alright :)

Gosh I'm so sleepy now zzz....
