On VL to view the PL

Took VL today coz the PL (pricelist) is out!

Similar to indicative price range and pretty much what we predicted.

We went down to the showroom again with his mummy and aunty.

I cant really explain why but being at the showroom makes me feel happy :) the location is not right-next-to-MRT kind of convenient, but because of that, it doesn't bring with it the typical hustle and bustle. The sky looks prettier there too (in mum's words, u seldom can see such a huge piece of sky in Sg anymore). Me and pops stood at the balcony and imagined what it would be like to be staring at the view if we ever manage to get a unit there :)

Glad his mum likes it too :) Now what's left is: Finances and Booking Day. Very big things I must say.

Anw, with regards to a comment by 'blog follower' in my prev post, I have to admit that Pops and I did talk abt proposal and applying for houses a couple of yrs ago. We thought that it sld only be right if the proposal came before the house-hunting otherwise, it will seem like u are getting married for the house.

However, we naturally started looking at launches when we started working... And I must say, the process can be really enlightening for a r/ship.

During the process of 'house-hunting', we learnt more about each other. We discussed about more serious and long-term issues. We talk about finances. We spoke about our plans for the future. We shared with each other what our dream home should look like. We give serious thoughts about staying together. We imagine starting a family.

We prayed, we committed, we grew closer, we learnt to trust God and His plans.

Every No from Him is leading to the right Yes. A better Yes. The Yes that He has planned for us.

I feel that we've grown so much in this process.

Whatever the outcome, we can only pray and commit further. That we may have a discerning heart, the wisdom to make the right choice and an obedient spirit to listen to the Lord and act upon His will.

  1. Hey as long as you're both looking for houses together and planning to get married in future - that's as good as being engaged :)

A couple looking for a house together shows a bigger commitment than another couple who's "engaged" but never even bother to plan ahead wrt housing or future plans!

Ooh what showroom did you guys visit? I love showrooms as well and visualising! Exciting! Details!

  2. :)

We visited the EC at Punggol, we both liked the surrounding and layout of the house. Sufficient livable space and don't feel very cramped up. YES I Love Showrooms Tooo!!!!

But we're now working out the sums to determine the affordability. If it works out to be too taxing, we'll just forgo and wait for the next launch ;)

  3. Wow ECs are pretty ex... Nice design & facilities, but pricey! Thinking of the 3, 4 or 5-room?

Yes do work out the monthly mortgage and stuff, don't forget to factor in monthly electrical/water/gas bills and property taxes etc.. Hidden costs haha (Future kids and their expenses?)

It definitely won't be pleasant to spend the first few years of your new married life worrying about finances, esp if a sum of your salary goes to the house (less spending $ and less savings).

It'll be like one of friends who drives a bmw, but can't afford to splurge on nice holidays or nice restaurants because he has to pay quite a high monthly sum for his car.

The new BTOs designs are pretty good as well and much cheaper than ECs so consider them! Cheaper means can get a bigger unit! haha

  4. Yup, pretty pricey :S looking at 4-rm compact for the space. Currently using our mthly CPF as a gauge for our comfort level.

When discussing, both of us agree that while we would love to return to a nice and comfy house with facilities and such, we don't want to compromise all the other things we enjoy doing like, travelling and splurging on food :p So I totally agree with you :)

Yup yup! If the finances doesn't work out to be within our comfort level, we'll just move on to the next BTO launch ;)

  5. Don't forget furniture costs! Also wedding costs! Both will add up to a 6-figure sum!

(to your other half: leave $ for her engagement ring hor)
